Cévennes

The Cévennes form a mountain range in the Massif Central, located between Lozère, Gard, Ardèche and Hérault.

Mountain refuges since the 16th-century Wars of Religion, they have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011 and represent the largest international dark sky reserve in Europe. With its landscapes, sometimes desert-like, sometimes verdant, it's an ideal destination for a getaway and escape from time. Marked by the hand of man who created bancels for crops or silkworm nurseries for silkworm breeding, the Cévennes region boasts a rich cultural and natural heritage. As you explore it, preferably on foot or by bike, you'll discover a powerful and welcoming nature, just like the people we met with Emmanuelle Oddo, editor-in-chief of this issue.
